Privacy policy
What Newsdesk keeps, and why
Newsdesk is the private newsroom behind Tangential PoliTiKing, aka The TPK Show. Only our own team signs in to it. This page says what it does with data from Google and YouTube, and what this website keeps about visitors. Last updated October 18, 2026.
Who we are
Newsdesk is run by Tangential PoliTiKing (The TPK Show), founded by Di Tang and Samuel Carvalho. Questions about this policy or your data go to email [at] tpk.show.
Visiting this site
- There are no ads, no trackers and no analytics on newsdesk.tpk.show. Nothing here sets a cookie unless you sign in.
- Signing in (our team only) sets one cookie that keeps that device signed in.
- Your light or dark choice is saved in your own browser, and never sent to us.
- Like any web server, ours can log the address a request came from, the time and the page asked for. We use that only to keep the site running and safe.
Google and YouTube data
Our team connects Newsdesk to our own Google account, the one that runs our YouTube channel. Newsdesk asks Google for these permissions, and uses each one only for what's listed:
Google Drive: only the files Newsdesk made, or ones we pick
Permission drive.file. Newsdesk saves each story's working files (clips, thumbnails, scripts, sources) into a TPK Newsdesk folder in our Drive, copies them between our own computers, and keeps nightly backups there. It can't see or open any other file in the Drive, only the ones it created and the ones we choose in Google's file picker. It never deletes files in Drive.
YouTube: read-only
Permissions youtube.readonly and yt-analytics.readonly. Newsdesk reads our own channel's videos and their numbers (views, watch time, how long people keep watching, subscribers gained) so we can see how each video does and what our audience likes. It can't upload, edit, delete or comment on anything.
Public YouTube data
Newsdesk also reads public information through YouTube API Services: our channel's public comments, and public videos from news outlets and other channels, to find clips and stories.
Newsdesk's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Newsdesk uses YouTube API Services. Using it means YouTube's Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy apply too.
Where it's kept, and who sees it
- Everything Newsdesk saves stays on our own computers, our own server, and the Google Drive folder above. The Google sign-in itself is kept on those computers only, never in backups or code.
- We don't sell, rent or trade any of it, we don't use it for ads, and we don't hand it to data brokers.
- A few features ask Anthropic's Claude to help: labeling a video's topic and summing up what works, and sorting public comments. For those, video titles, their numbers or public comment text go to Claude's API, only to get that answer back. Anthropic's commercial terms don't let it train its models on that data.
- Nobody outside our team can open Newsdesk.
Removing access, and deleting data
- Disconnect in Newsdesk (on the Google Drive card and on My channel) deletes Newsdesk's Google sign-in.
- Google's own page also takes Newsdesk's access away at any time: myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Files already in the Drive folder stay there until someone deletes them in Google Drive.
- Ask us at the address above and we'll delete what Newsdesk saved from YouTube within 30 days.
Children, and changes
Newsdesk and this site aren't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything about them.
If this policy changes, this page shows the new version and its date.
